VIDYA is a playful and strongly intuitive singer, pianist, composer and producer.
She is inspired by the body and it's inner processes, sound, shape and colour.Her music often appears in her dreams...
In Vidya's music you meet the truth in her voice and a pulsating now. She is guided by a feeling of freedom when singing and playing. Her music flows freely between jazz pop world and improvisation.
Vidya's first album Peace Play received great reviews in Swedish media. Her second album The Papillon released in 2022 , went on to achieve international acclaim, also being nominated for The Manifest prize in the category " Jazz of the year". May 2024 she releases her third album - Adi Shakti on Naxos Prophone. It features the exceptionally creative musicians ECM recording guitarist Rob Luft, Magnus Bergström on bass, and Jon Fält from Bobo Stenson trio on drums.
This resulting in a playful and exciting quartet who’s dynamic synergy very much shines through both live and on the recording.
