Halperin-Nyberg Connection is a collaboration between legendary NYC saxophonist Jimmy Halperin and Swedish guitarist and composer Pål Nyberg. Halperin has a unique spot in the history of jazz as one of the main flag bearers of Lennie Tristano’s New York legacy. Once a student of Tristano he has developed a unique sound highly influenced by the cool approach of the Tristano-School. Halperin has extensively worked with both Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz and is perhaps the most interesting improvisers deriving from the NewYork cool scene living today. Pål Nyberg, 2015 mentioned in LondonJazznews as ”one of the strongest standard bearers of the straight ahead jazz guitar sound”. Over the last years he has been busy touring Europe, playing with many of the great young improvisers of the diverse jazz and improv scene of today.
2015 the group made two highly acclaimed tours through northern Europe, including shows at Bimhuis (Amsterdam), A-trane (Berlin) and Jazz club Fasching (Stockholm). Their debut album ”Snow Tiger” has received nothing bur praise from critics and audience alike.
