Evgeny Fedorov is a musician from Saint Petersburg. After being forced to leave his home country, he is now based in Sweden as an artist in residence at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern through the Fristad residency programme. Fedorov has worked across music, cinema, and performance for more than three decades. Over the course of his career, he has composed music for more than forty films, theatre productions, television projects, and animated films.
Evgenys latest work, Winter in March (2025), has received more than twenty international film awards, including recognition at the Cannes Film Festival.
He has performed at major Russian and international rock and jazz festivals as the founder and frontman of influential alternative bands including Tequilajazzz, Zorge, and Optimystica Orchestra. With his bands, he has crossed the full geography of live music — from small venues such as Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco and the legendary CBGB in New York to stadium stages in Japan.
His work combines elements of rock, jazz, electronic, and experimental music, shaped by a strong sense of artistic freedom and constant formal exploration. He has released numerous albums across his projects, many of which received major critical acclaim, reached national charts, and developed lasting cult status within independent music scenes. Fedorov's compositions are marked by emotional depth, a distinct sonic language, and a recognisable authorial voice — making him one of the defining figures of contemporary Russian music, now continuing his work in exile.
Evgeny continues to tour across Europe with Tequilajazzz, now combined with Zorge, while also developing a solo electronic-acoustic programme of a more intimate scale. Alongside live performance, he continues to work in film composition, develops his own audio book projects, and is currently preparing a new album.
