Oleksandr Malyshev

Oleksandr Malyshev – jazz piano nerd. Playing with taste and creating space for everybody involved.

Oleksandr Malyshev – pianist, composer, bright representative of Ukrainian jazz scene. The hallmark of his playing is a refined taste, honed through many years of collaboration with known jazzmen of Ukraine. His music is highly thematic and often infused with irony, even within its serious musical language. Oleksandr’s debut album, Live at 32 Jazz Club (2025), received glowing reviews from audiences, critics, and fellow musicians

Meet some of Oleksandr’s regular collaborators:

D`Electro – Ukrainian crossover instrumental quartet, mixing jazz, hip hop and electronics. Truly spectacular combo of players, such as Dennis Adu(trumpet), Rodion Ivanov (keys), Oleksandr Malyshev (keys) and Artur Frolov (drums).

Kostiantyn Ionenko quartet – more reserved and romantic approach to European jazz music from renowned Ukrainian bass player.

BITLO – improvised beat-oriented fusion music with huge anime and video game influence. Created by Mykola Zinchenko (guitar,fx), Borys Mohylevskyi (sax, EWI), Oleksandr Malyshev (keys) and Roman Humenyuk (drums).

Oleksandr also works a lot with Dennis Adu, Viktor Pavelko and Alina Zalozna and also is a member of Impressions Jazz Quintet.

Malyshev’s most recent project - Space Quintet which is also the title of his upcoming release - serves as the first chapter of the duology Taste and Space. Oleksandr often jokes that this quintet was sent to him from space, referring to the astonishing and innovative playing of its first-class musicians. However, the word ‘space’ also appeals to its other meanings—room, amplitude, place, and environment.

Space Quintet is the enviroment the band creates both within and beyond the music they play—a space that invites you in and draws you back. It also reflects the places, people, and moments that shape it.

Don’t miss Space Quintet live to experience the full flavour of an already exquisite dish. The cherry on top of the show is the tune ‘Get Out of the Beach!’, which resonates with the dream of every Ukrainian—to return to the sweet beaches of Crimea.
